Detailing Your Mission Building |
|
Add mud and dust.
It's a good idea to think of what might happen in real life — and then, apply that to your project. When rain falls off of roofs and gutters, for example, dirt splashes up from the ground onto the building. Over time, the foundation can look quite dirty. Dirt and grime also build up and look as if it has washed down from the windows and roof. We're used to seeing such details in everyday life, so they can be hard to visualize. But adding them to your Mission building really makes your project stand out.
Start by lightly brushing dark chalk over the areas you want to detail. The key is not using too much chalk or pressing too hard. Work slowly and carefully. After you have a good base of chalk, use a paper towel to brush the chalk down lightly on a few different areas of the building.

Add climbing vines.
This is easy and fun! Using white glue, make vine-like patterns moving up the side of the building. Choose any part of the building, but remember to start from the very bottom and work up. While the glue pattern is still wet, sprinkle it with HCAY9512 (Green Ground Cover). Wait a few seconds and then shake off the loose cover. Instant vines! You can add more than one — just don't overdo it! |
