Attaching Ground Cover

SEARCH:

How to attach ground cover to your Mission base.

Start by brushing a mixture of white glue thinned 50-50 with water onto the area you want to cover. Cover an area only about the size of your hand at a time. Spread a thin layer of Hobbico ground cover over the coated area.

Next, thin a mixture of around 80% water and 20% glue and place it in a garden spray bottle or a Scenic Sprayer. Make sure the sprayer is set for a wide, soft spray pattern. If the mixture still comes out in a stream, you'll need to use more water. Adding a few drops of glass cleaner to your water/glue mixture will also help it flow out better. Sometimes this is called “wet water”.

Spray the water/glue mixture over the grass until it's fully wet. Then wait until the ground cover is completely dry before adding the building or any other detail.

Another way to add grass to your model is with a grass mat. The grass mat can be cut to any desired shape and then glued to your base with white glue or a spray adhesive. Be sure that you follow any and all safety warnings on the spray adhesive. MAKE SURE YOU USE ADEQUATE VENTILATION WITH ANY SPRAY ADHESIVE!
